§ 67. Mr. Barry Field
To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the progress of job clubs.
§ Mr. Lee
Job clubs have proved a very effective means of helping long-term unemployed people to find the jobs they want. In the current financial year to the end of September 1987, 47,664 people had passed through job clubs. Of these 25,931 (54.4 per cent.) found work and a further 6,424 (13.5 per cent.) took up a place on the community programme, a training scheme or the enterprise allowance scheme.514W
